A funny thing happened on my way to South Dakota...

i loved the badlands! you'll have a great time. it rained the whole time i was there (after the first day)
cant wait to see your pix.

 

That's what I hear everytime about Mt. Rushmore. Everybody is atleast kinda let down when they see it. Guess I'll have to head out there sometime to see it for myself.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it out there Prog. Vacations are always great, even if they are a working vacation.

Where I work we take calls for South Dakota afterhours and on Sundays, and I will admit that I am not fond of people from that state. Not as bad as North Dakota, but still pretty bad. They are pretty impatient, and somewhat absent minded. After about 3 years working here, this is what I have come to find (This is a large generalization not meant to offend, but hey, I am at work and needed to vent ).

Someday I hope to make it to the Badlands and Black Hills someday, mostly just to see it for myself. Waiting for the pictures.

wow, that is weird. i was in rapid city just 2 weeks ago for a youth conference and everyone was really nice there. we stayed at the hotel alex johnson. and yes, mount rushmore was a let down, not as big as they make it seem on tv. got to see what was started on crazy horse. the black hills are absolutely beautiful. went to THE sturgis. i loved it out there. and they were taring up a street in rapid city. that was a pain. anyway, everyone we ran into was really nice to us. we also went to reptile land, that was not what it says it is. went to bear country, i loved that. the flights were horrid though. in minnesota an old lady fell off the plane getting out. one minute she was there, the next she was laying on the ground. the poor husband did not know what happened to her. i was behind her. scared the crap out of me. then we had to fly around 60, yes, 60, tornadoes to get to south dakota. on the way back, the plane in minnesota was broke down. anyway, if you ever get the chance, go there. beautiful country.

 

I've been living in South Dakota for about a year now and I can testify that the people are very very friendly. It was a culture shock moving from Colorado, everybody waves and smiles. Some people are prejudice, but I don't think more than any other state, maybe more than where I'm from.

 

sister-in-law lives in south dakota...i'll be there at the end of next month. how weird
