Does anyone teach how to construct a sentence these days? Sheesh...too many capitals!

The jazz is probably a good bet for a good "slap bass", mainly because it does everything else well, too. Good luck.

Oh, yeah... I noticed that the ATK isn't listed on the website yet. If you call them, or e-mail, they'll tell you.

It's an all black, active bass. It looks like an MM, and from what I gather plays like one.

I really wanted to try it out. It looked brand new (no scratches), and was screaming "PLAY ME!" I didn't have the time, though.

The price tag was definitely fitting in your range, though.

For what it's worth, there's a beautiful flamed koa topped ATK at bass northwest for $399. Much prettier than a black one, I guarantee!

Ah, I didn't know bassnw.com had one. I haven't been to their site in a while. I'm sure both are fine, but as far as prices go, the black might be a little more reasonable. Either way, ATK's are probably the best bass Ibanez ever released...
