A Great Compilation of Early Bass Music

Discussion in 'Recordings [DB]' started by edwardthewave, Oct 12, 2017.

  1. I don't play double bass, but am a fan of early music. I stumbled across this compilation of early bass music - I mean music that features the Bass viol or Violone as a solo voice, from the Baroque period. It includes pieces by baroque composers like Giovanni Batista Vitali, Giuseppe Colombi, and Giovanni Lorenzo Lulier. Released by Urania Records, an Italian independent label.

    14021-COVER-2.

I got the CD. Great stuff. Interesting to hear a baroque guitar as well.

Too bad Bach never wrote for the bass violin.
