Well i am back to bass.
I've always preferred it and it didn't take long to come running back.
I am selling my drumset and i am getting another Rickenbacker 4001
I will need a good amp. I am looking into a Head/cab setup.
I like tubes but know know if i want to go with them this time around. Maybe i would setlle for an all tube preamp and SS power section.
Well i should have about $500-$700 to start with.
I am thinking Ampeg and would like to find it used.
    Can someone help me out.
I want a punchy yet meaty tone and some growl.

The Ampeg V4 heads are available used for about $250 to $300 and they're more than enough to handle 99% of the venues you're likely to play in. The 100 watt rating seems to very conservative. And tube watts really do deliver more volume than solid state. I have mine hooked up to a 1x15 and 2x10 cab. It's MORE than I usually need. And the tone is outstanding.
