I used to know exactly what "scale" meant - for the life of me, I can't remember right now. Is scale measured from the nut to the end of the fingerboard, or is it from the nut to the bridge? Or am I wrong on both counts? I had a solid definition in a book I own, but of course I've loaned that book out. Can anyone give me an accurate definition?

Thanks - 'preciate it. God love John Entwistle. Without him, I might never have picked up a bass. I imagine I'm not alone.

But thanks also for the prompt response.

Nut to 12th fret then double it, is probably a more accurate way to measure.
