i heard recently (i believe from here) that bart pick-ups are passive and that their pre-amps are made specialy for the pick-ups. i was thinking about getting a bart pre-amp and a question came to mind: do the bart pre-amps have an active/passive switch?

    thanx

    tain't stoopid at all :)

The "harnesses" page (click) at the Bart site says for
    some extra $$$, they'll add a push/pull, active/passive
    switch to the volume control.

I'm not familiar with a push/pull switch on the volume control. how, exactly does it work?

and if you don't add the $$$ there wont be an actice/passive switch at all?

Normally, ya' twirl the volume round & round in say, the "X" axis.
The switch part works in the "Y" or vertical axis.

Here's yet another page from the Bart site -- click.
Push == Active, Pull == Passive.

I guess so. Unless ya' order the "HR-2.2AP" model harness.
    It's a Vol/Tone unit with an active/passive push/pull on the
    volume control.

  5. Hmmmmm.........methinks it's time for a re-think on what's going to go into my hot-rodded Squire. This might be better than the Aguilar OBP-1 plus a bunch of extra pots.

    Rock on

Stacked pots can be a source of great wackyness as well.
    Volume/tone, lo-mid/hi-mid, etc. Maximum knob-age, minimummm...
    hole-age.

They gave me the idea on how to wire my next futzin' project -
a yammer bbn4f with two DiMarzio Ultra-Jazzezzss humbuckers.
D'oh! Wire it like a Les Paul! -- kleek .

BTW...Congrats and many happy returns on the upcomin' nuptials!,

See, people! I was nice! So there! :p

  7. Yeah, like THAT will ever happen again.:D

Actually, I wanted the multitudiness of knobs. I like knobs. Knobs are cool. If I could, I would get a 6 knob setup that was triple stacked.:D

    Rock on

Yeah... I just don't get this... I'm down here in New Orleans for a business conference, and all up and down Bourbon Street there's these sweet young honeys walking around with these 80 year-old men... Oh, wait a minute... You meant Control knobs... :D
