I have never vocalized this, but I have felt it my entire life and known it for as long as I can remember. ALL my inspirations for playing bass were British, and I am so grateful for their contribution to the world that oftentimes I feel like draping a Union Jack flag over my amp. But I’m as American as they come, so I haven’t yet. Thank you to Paul McCartney, John Entwhistle, John Paul Jones, Roger Glover, Dee Murray, John Deacon, Lemmy, Adam Clayton, John McVie, Glenn Cornick, Roger Waters, Chris Squire, Pino Palladino, Cliff Williams, Bill Wyman, Chris Squire, Geezer Butler, and Jack Bruce! I might have even missed a couple. It’s hard to look at a list like that and think it isn’t 100% complete! P.S. At the risk of sounding like I’m discriminating, are there any good bassists out there that aren’t English? (I’m kidding).
