So, i'm about to pull the trigger here.. i just wanted to run it by you guys before doing so.
I know very little about Basses, but want to start learning.
Seller says it's a MIJ 84-87 Jazz Bass.
I checked the serial with fender and it seems to line up.
but i can't find any non-squier 84-87 jazz basses on the internet.. so i'm slightly worried it might be a MIJ Squier with a rebranded headstock. Any thoughts?

I think 84-87 should have the serial number on the headstock, not the heal. Look like a later MIJ. Hopefully someone can confirm.

  4. Looks identical to the fretless I have. Mine has the sn in the same spot but says CIJ.

The stringholder on headstock is original Fender (Squier has it slightly different shaped: but again... I heavily modded my former Squier VM '70s and ended up adding an original Fender stringholder, "F" chrome backneckheelplate and Splinter jack input, so your doubts are fine...).

I dunno the price, but the bass is elegantly gorgeous:bassist:

    Cheers,

Can't go wrong with a MIJ from any era IMO.

But get it: for its price, I'd do it. You can eventually pay good attention to pickup quality, that some MIJ Fender tend to mount very cheap. Otherwise alder body and maple neck manufacturing are keepers on those basses.

    Grab it!

    Or better steal it!

    Is that enough?!

    Cheers,
    Wallace

Looks as it should. There is a similar mij 84 jazz on eBay. Neck and decal have exactly the same details as your. Nice score.
