I swapped out the stock speaker in my tri112 cabinet(probably an emminence kappa variation) for a B&C 12NW76 neo. The weight savings wasn't major, but the sonic improvement is dramatic. The lows are much more profound without getting muddy. You don't lose any of the cabinets midrange character. I highly recommend this as an upgrade on an already great cab.
That's interesting. Mikebass said his also came from the factory with a non-neo woofer. I haven't pulled mine, but it's gotta be neo. The total cabinet weight is 36.88 lbs., 1.12 lbs less than advertised (I have a very accurate digital scale at work ). I'm happy with the low end I get from mine, but thanks for the heads-up! elros - I found this: http://www.usspeaker.com/neodymium speakers-1.htm Ken
If it's an L, then it (at least originally) had a NEO in it, unless you bought the oddball cab from Mikebass which is a one of a kind.
Typically, depending on the original driver, the weight savings is only 3-6 pounds. It's when you get into 2, 3, and 4 speaker configs where it really makes the huge diff. I mod'd a 212 cab with NEOs and saved 11 pounds overall.
