I was wondering if there was anyone out there that could help me out. I have an Acoustic 404 cabinet(6x12) that I've had for a few years now. Does anyone out there know what speakers were originally used in those cabs or what a good replacement is for them. After 10 years I've blown my first speaker ever. Thanks in advance to anybody that can help.

Any markings on the speakers? If there is something like a three digit number followed by a space and then a four digit number, we might be able to figure it out.

FWIW, you could send your blown one to Ted Weber at www.webervst.com and he could recone it with a kit that is probably pretty similar to the original. His prices are quite reasonable, his work excellent and since he's a speaker manufacturer, he's equipped to do a lot of things that most reconers aren't (like remagnetize the magnet, etc.)
