acoustic bass strings

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Freaky Fender, Jul 13, 2001.

  1. Hi. can anyone tell me why there or speical strings for acoustic bass? why don't we just put on some GHS?

  2. Well, people seem to use special strings (bronze) which give more brightness and a looser feel. I would put a set of flats in them just to see.

The only real acoustic strings I can stand are Elixirs. However, I'm currently using Thomastik-Infeld Jazz flats on my Tacoma CB-10, even though they're electric strings. They sound great, they are the perfect blend of the best qualities of rounds and flats (on an acoustic).

  4. The main reason I use bronze strings is because they are looser... which is a lot especially since the action on an acoustic is a bit higher.
