Hi. Up for sale is an AI Clarus 1 Series II amp head. Excellent condition. No dings. Comes with the AI Carry bag, with a pocket for the power cord and speaker cable. These are great for upright and electric bass. Two inputs, High Z and Low Z. High for upright or Piezo pickups, low for Mag pickups. A rather useful and uncommon control knob: High Pass filter and Notch filter. More common control knobs and features: 4 band EQ; FX Send/Return; Direct Out with Ground switch; 2 Speakon connectors. Output Power >200 W @ 4Ω, >300 W @ 2Ω. Plenty of power for your small jazz combo gig. Probably not so much for Heavy Metal or Punk. These are known for the jazz sound, and for being well suited upright bass. My Robb Allan MB2 sounds fantastic through this amp, into a Baer ML112, or into an EA Wizzy 10. Warm, round, elegant, with punch when you need it. PayPal preferred. Shipping within the USA only. Pics:
Great amp! If you can hold on a week, I'll buy it. Self-employed! BUUUUT, I have a virtual bargeload of stuff to trade!
You rock! I build drums as my regular gig, and am waiting on a final payment. W-A-I-T-I-N-G!!! I am looking forward to hearing my doublebass through this! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
I can tell you, my Rob Allen MB2 sounds the sweetest, warmest, thickest with this amp. Usually out of a EA Wizzy 10, but on outdoor gigs a Baer 112. I get compliments. Some actually on my playing. Well ok mostly on the playing, but the tone is just grand. I also have a GB Shuttle 9, and that is really nice. I can dial in a sweet warm tone, but it's just not the same as the AI. I've had no other nibbles on this amp, so it looks like it will be yours. HANG IN THERE! The HPF and the Notch Filter are also grand. There are just some rooms out there that have a harmonic frequency that grabs an upright and wreaks havoc. Between the HPF and the Notch Filter, you can tame that beast. Some other amps have the HPF, but I have not seen the notch anywhere else. i have a couple Fdeck HPF's, and there's no need for them with the AI. You play out of an EICH? Serious amp there! Yet colored. I don't know much about them. I guess, same class as the Jule and Reiner amps?
Yeah, the Eich T Series for electric is seriously fantastic!!! It is VERY much like the Puma amps. Yes, colored in a very good way, as I have experienced with an amber and a green light Woods. The Eich has a lot in common with the Woods, to my ears...a certain "juicyness", is the best way to describe it. I briefly had a blue light, but that was overkill for what I do. Jazz clubs, restaurants, festivals etc. No place with more than 600 seats, usually. I have the Eich 300. Really, really efficient LOUD amp, and weighs around 3 pounds. I got my Eich a few years ago, and it replaced the EA Doubler (1st edition) which I used for the 2 years I lived in Shanghai (which has/HAD a BEAUTIFULLY vibrant music scene). The Doubler has switchable voltage, as does the Eich; it was a must for Asian voltage. It sounded PRETTY good for upright and PRETTY good for electric. It was good, but wasn't my long term solution. I got my T-300 for 500 bucks, so money well spent. Honestly, I really love it!! I have it running into a 2x8 Schroeder (in surf green with a white baffle and chrome grill...looks like a 50s Chevy!) that handles 400 watts at 4 ohms. LOTS of punch!!! It seems much louder than 300 watts!!! REALLY looking forward to using the Claus! I had a 2nd version Contra with the tilt-back cab (amp on a stick) that sounded divine for upright, but was a turkey for electric, which it was never intended for, anyway.
15 years ago the AI Clarus wouldn't last for more than a day on TB at three times the cost! A pure solid silver lining about great older gear, current interest may shift but the quality and tone remains. Great amp! Congrats
