RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (June 3, 2019)--Acoustic Image today announced the launch of Doubleshot, the worlds smallest, lightest 2X10 speaker cabinet, offering natural, omnidirectional, full-range, high-volume sound, for all acoustic instruments, including voice, through two opposing sidefir- ing woofers and a single 5-inch midrange driver mounted in an extremely compact enclosure with a total weight of just 15 pounds. The 12-inch-high Doubleshot cabinet will be available on its own (for use with any power amplifier) at a street price of $599 or paired with one of three Acoustic Image Clarus SL heads in combos ranging in price from $1299 to $1449, depending on amplifier features (each includes a high quality backpack-style gigbag). Prices for Doubleshot combos (and new 1X10 Upshot combos) will be reduced by $100 on all sales prior to September 1, 2019. “Our downfiring/frontfiring Ten2 EX was, until now, the world’s smallest and lightest 2X10 cabinet—and arguably the best,” said Rick Jones, Acoustic Image Founder and Chief Designer. ”The sidefiring Double- shot is half the size and weight...sounds more open and natural...plays just as loudly...and sells for 20 percent less.” “Doubleshot’s design takes full advantage of physics to maximize volume and breadth of frequency range, “ Jones added. “What’s more, the 180-degree sidefiring configuration, plus the added frontfiring wave of the midrange driver, result in true omnidirectional sound. The soundstage is huge, giving it a ‘coming from everywhere’ sound.” DoubleShot Combo The DoubleShot Combo consists of the DoubleShot speaker and one of three AI SL-class integrated amplifiers. There are rubber stops on the top of the cabinet that hold the amp head in place. When the amp is placed on top against the stops and the speaker is connected, a unique “combo” is formed. Three versions are available: 1) DoubleShot-Clarus SL = DoubleShot plus 600W Clarus SL (one channel, no effects) plus short speaker cable. 2) DoubleShot-Clarus SL-R = DoubleShot plus 600W Clarus SL-R (one channel with effects) plus short speaker cable. 3) DoubleShot-Clarus SL-2 = DoubleShot plus 600W Clarus SL-2 (two channels, no effects) plus short speaker cable. When the units are purchased together as a “combo,” a duffle/backpack carry bag is included. I look forward to the next thread where you pop in and say "I don't like this". Hell, you've probably already posted it while I was typing.
I’m an electric bass player and AI amps and speakers sound fine for me. But then again I Don’t have to compete with an ear splitting drummer. AI is a super innovative team and the bassist community is lucky to have them
All AI products are designed to have a very transparent natural sound. If you’re used to the colored sound that most Electric Bass Amps give you, you might not dig it. But they are so natural sounding for upright/acoustic instruments, hence the name. That said, AI products work for electric bass with no issues...probably one of the most accurate representations of what your bass really sounds like.
The Clarus SL works very well for electric bass. I imagine that the Double shot would also work for electric bass.
I LOVE 210 / 410 cabs. I can't wait to hear this cab and at 15 lbs makes my GK 210 seem heavy and I can pick it up with two fingers !
Why are they balancing an amp on the top of that? Looks like an accident waiting to happen. Also, I like 10" cabs and combos.
I'd like to apologize for my previous post. I didn't mean to denigrate AI's engineering or design work, as I'm sure this combo sounds fantastic. And I bet it moves a lot of air.
