I have really been getting into playing my acoustic g***** and i want more stuff to listen to, but I just cant find anybody that i dig. I was wondering if you guys like any. I want to start playing and singing at the same time. Or even just play bass with my one friend who plays guitar and sings.

I asked a few girls that like contemporary music if they could help, but all the bands they said i just couldnt get into.

    Bands I like:
    Mr. Bungle
    Dream Theater
    Symphony X
    Protest The Hero
    Green Day
    Frank Zappa
    Victor Wooten
    Rise Against
    Chili Peppers (greatest hits mainly...)
80's and 90's pop rock music
    Tantric
    Buckethead
    Andy McKee
    Avril Lavigne
    Between The Buried and Me
    Blink 182
    Days of The New
    Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
    Estradasphere
    The Fall of Troy

Bands recommended by teen girls that i don't like:

    Secondhand serenade
    Violent Femmes
    Defiance, Ohio
    The mountain goats
    Fruit bats
    Edith Frost
    Maceman
    the scene aesthetic
    the apathy eulogy
    amber pacific acoustic album
    Circa Survive
    Bright Eyes
    a perfect circle
    jack johnsons
    Bayside

I like catchy singing lines and good supporting guitar. I dont need it to be crazy riffs and solos and stuff. I am just having trouble finding a nice blend of the catchy stuff that interests me and the stuff thats out now.

Any help, comments, or recommendations would be greatly appriciated, Paul.

  2. check out tenacious D (the first album mainly) even though they're a comedy act, there's a lot of musicality in there, and lots of acoustic guitar.

    hope that helps :)

Mayve you could try out a few of John Frusciante's solo albums, great stuff IMO.

If you want to get into more technical acoustic stuff, you could try 3. Joey Eppard is an insane player.

Richard and Linda Thompson (also Richard Alone)
    First two Hot Tuna albums

i like Ray LaMontagne more than the other guy. I thought you were messing with me at first, the beginning of his video he was speaking a different language.

amazing cool music man...way to hard for me to play though, im just a bassist posing as a guitarists..

more into the nice easy flowing chord progressions

but honestly, i will buy Raoul Midon's cd, this is great. i dig the slap guitar.
