    Hey ya'll. How's about a little help?

I've started seriouse planning on my first truely custom instrument, and after alot of thought I've decided to go with active pickups into passive tone controls (which will be hardwired to always be on full blast) both to save a little money but also to clear up a little room to make the body a little smaller. Unfortunatly, I have NO experience with truely active pickups. Does anyone have any suggestions on at least brands that make good active pickups? Oh, and the pickups are going to be wired parallel/split/series, if that matters in your recomandations.

EMG and Seymor Duncan make active pickups. Atleast the EMG's will work fine without a preamp, but you'll need 25K pots.

    Claremore OK.
I think you would be better off goin with passive pups, IMO if you go active the benifits of an active preamp are great. Without the active preamp active pickups are not worth it to me. I love active pups and all basses have em but I feel the preamp is a vital part of the system.
