I just got a new bass (lakland skyline 44-02) and play alot on both its active and passive mode. My amp, a SWR workingman 12, has an "passive/active" input and a "active" input. I dont know which one to use now

:bag: help a noob in need?

  2. There are no set rules. I have active basses and always use the passive input. I don't have a super hard touch, and the active input always sounds better to me. I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the input pad to reduce the input of the active input also slightly impacts the tone.... taking a little zing and presence off the treble response.

Basically, you can't do any harm. Try the passive input. If you seem to be clipping the preamp even when you turn the input gain down, switch to the active input. You won't hurt anything by experimenting with it.
