Active/Passive Question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Squice, Mar 21, 2003.

  1. I was just wondering I have high/low input on my amp, and have two basses Active/passive, Can i have them both plugged in at once, so i don´t have too unplug/plug if i want to change basses on a gig? or is this just a stupid question... :)
by the way, my amp is a Ashdown Abm500rc Evo..

Just try it, you won't break anything.

But it could be that one input is muted when the other one is used.
Plug two basses in and see if you can hear both. There'll some some volume difference though, depending on the output of the basses.
  3. what sometimes happens is that the two inputs are linked, and when you have instruments plugged into both at the same time, they equalise out, becomeing exactly the same. You won't damage anything by trying, though.

I have an ashdown mag250. i have tried this, and it turns out that when both inputs are used that it mutes one... I cant remember which one though. It may not be the same on an ABM, so its still worth a try, and as has been said before, it cant hurt!!
