I own an Ibanez EDA900 four string bass with an active piezo pickup in the bridge. My question is as follows, is the battery still being used up even when i'm not playing, just because a cord is plugged in? Another way of putting it is, if i leave a cord plugged in the bass, does it drain the battery?

ok, theres a switch in the jack that activates the active pre when you plug a cord in- so if you leave it in- the bass thinks its on and therefore drains the batts...
