Active upgrade to standard p-bass

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by basstrader, May 28, 2004.

  1. How many of you have upgraded a p-bass with an active tone control like an EMG BTC or John East BTB-01? Specifically, is there room for a battery without routing a spot for it?

I can recommend the raven labs pbr-1 preamp, it doesn't try to to do too much, and it uses the coin sized watch batteries so installation is easy.

It also doesn't add the slight coloring that the East preamp does even when flat. You might like that coloration, it wasn't for me, and I like that the Raven Labs is transparent with the eq flat.

Is it small enough to install without routing the bass out at all?
