active with passive or...

    hello,
    its possible to use passive pups with active electronics?

    and the other way?

    FWIW:

    most "active" basses have passive pups with a preamp. If it has an active/passive switch then the pups (or at least one of them) have to be passive. Active pups have a preamp built-in and require only a battery, although they often have an onboard pre installed. Some active pup sets only have the pre in one pup and the other is actually a passive pup. Percentage wise, there's really not many active pups on the market - especially if you remove EMGs from the mix.
