Add a 2x10?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by cubeenz, Jul 6, 2001.

  1. I play an Ampeg SVT3-PRO through an SVT410HE cab (8 ohms). Would it be worth it to add an SVT210HE (8 ohms)? That way I'd be pushing 450 (instead of 275) into 6 10's (4 homs). I've thought about several things like a 1x15 or another 4x10, but I think I like the idea of a 2x10. Also, this way I could have something more portable for practice/smaller settings. Does anyone have any thoughts on this as far as sound or anything else for that matter?

btw, the 4x10 is not ported and the 2x10 is.

It isn't going to change the sound significantly. If you need more volume, adding the cabinet will get it for you. If you don't need more volume, spend your money somewhere else.
  3. Just heard a guy play through a SVT 410HE cab and a matching 1x15 cab and it sounded great!
    I'd go with the 15".
My 4x10 coupled with the 2x10 and it did not sound like a 6x10. The 15" added something.
