Aside from the negative effects such as resale value, can anyone tell me if adding a Jazz pickup in the neck position on the Sterling would be a good or bad idea?

I love my Sterling but I've toyed with the idea of adding a Jazz pickup by the neck. Get even more versatility.

    Thanks!

if you really like the bass and think you'll keep it for a long time, go for it. i think i would do it if i was in your position. but - have it done by a professional, unless your an expert on such things. no need to screw up a great bass

Oh no I'd have a professional do it *lol* :) I have a hard enough time cutting construction paper without screwing up :)

I knew of a guy that had this done to his SR5 it didn't sounded like much of an improvement until he also changed out the stock electronics with this configuration only then did it sound decent at best IMO.
