I'm thinking about doing a project bass. Initially I thought about starting with a p-bass and adding the MM pickup, all passive, with stacked jazz bass pot configuration. But, I'm not confident about by routing skills so would prefer to hide the routing under the pickguard. So, gonna add a p-bass pickup to an SBMM Ray4 instead. I plan to install the p-bass pickup as close as possible to the standard p-bass location by first installing the E-A pickup in the correct place and the put the D-G pickup on the opposite side of where it would normally go. I'm familiar with various combinations of passive electronics but not active. So, looking for some guidance about pots and wiring. To maintain the best out of the MM sound, I'd like to leave maintain the 2-band active setup on the bass. So, how do I wire in the p-bass pickup. What pots or selector switch? I like the standard, passive p-bass sound but wondered if I Can take advantage of using the active electronics? How do I wire that?
