adding a string retainer

    to a 5 string l2500
    I am thinking of adding something like this to my l2500.
    Pros?
    Cons?

    Not necessary on the bass string with the tuner closest to the nut, otherwise no comment.

    I went away from that type of retainer. They are a pain when doing string changes. They also make it nearly impossible to remove strings in a way that preserves them for future use. Also mounting the bar that close to the nut puts the break over angle steeper than needed and adds drag to the string when tuning.

    Hipshot makes a string retainer that is a bar with a set of hooks that looks slick. Does the same function but is a top load arrangement. Or for a lot less money, 2 traditional string buttons will work fine.
