Adding bypass to an active bass(?)

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by bassteban, Sep 17, 2005.

  1. Dean Edge 4 fretless- EMG-looking Dean brand pickups & active(vol/blend/bass/treb)preamp. Can I easily slap on a bypass switch or something for those 'oh crap my battery is dying mid-song' moments, or does the preamp need to be upgraded?

hard to tell without seeing what's in the cavity. for example, if all the pots are mounted on a circuit board it's that much harder to change the vol out for a vol with push/pull

could you take a pic of the cavity?

  3. I'll see if I can in the next couple of days or so- I can tell you that the pots are not mounted to a circuit board, & the preamp itself is a separate little 'module', like an Aguilar I think. My Stambaugh's active/passive control is a little toggle, & I wouldn't mind adding a switch to the(Dean)bass. A push-pull pot is not a problem either. Thanks for responding.

ok, so that's good to know - no reason it shouldn't be doable then
