Adding fingers......

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by paul_mccartney, Jun 2, 2001.

  1. What's the best way to start learning to play with three or four fingers? I've gotten fairly proficient at playing major scales with my index, middle, and ring fingers, but beyond that it's pretty much non-existent.

Are there any sort of exercises y'all can recommend? Or should I just try different scales? .... :)

Also: How can I increase my slapping speed (as in as close to the Les Claypool Superman-speed as is possible for us mortals to achieve)?

    Thanks in advance.

    I'll second the Hanging Ten.

As for the slapping, sadly, practice. Although, it wouldn't hurt to pick up a video, "The Slap Bass Program," to ensure your technique isn't holding you back. Expalining how to slap well with typed words just doesn't get it very well.
