Adding pickups

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by pajo18985, Sep 12, 2002.

  1. Hey

Just a question about installing some new pickups..
i have a musicman with its original pickups and i was wondering if there is any way of putting p-bass pickups into it but still letting me keep the original musicman ones too.
any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

You would have to use or pay someone to use a router. You would severely decrease your chances of selling it.

Yeah, as CS said, it's gonna involve routeing. I just did that to a P-bass, and I can tell you, MAKE SURE that you only route out what you want. Make a template of the pups in plywood, put a collar on the bit, THEN go at it. I almost made a nasty mistake when I was going at it, and it nearly cost me the bass.

Also remember that you will have to drill a hole through the body for the wiring, so get a thin, long stemed bit to do that.

    Rock on
