I have a Fender Kingman acoustic bass strung with Rotosound 77s, and the string tension is very high. I usually play with a lighter tension. How can I adjust it, or is it a string issue?

Is a string issue. Assuming you have the lightest set of roto 77 on there, you will probably want a different string.
I hear the TI flats have easier tension, but haven't used 'em. I prefer flats on a shortscale bass for these reasons

Thanks; they are the standard gauge string, so I could consider going lighter. They're my first flats, so I never thought about compensating for that.
