The bottom frets (the first 4 i'd say) on the A, D, G strings on my Ibanez SRX700 (brand new) are making a horrible clank. Is it right that this is probably because the truss rod is too loose/tight? Is adjusting the truss rod a job for one of the assistants at my local guitar store or can i do it meself? Bear in mind i have no experience fixing/building basses and don't even know where/what the truss rod is, and don't really want to dick around with a new $700 bass. If it is something i could do meself, a bit of a step by step guide through the process would be great. Cheers everyone

Some folks will chime in that truss rod adjustment is a mystical art that involves raising Golden Chocobos so you can get the Knights of the Round Summon.
Loosening the nut might help. A truss nut is like any other nut, clockwise to tighten (tight nut=straighter rod=less relief, or in your case convex relief), counterclockwise to loosen (loose nut=relaxed rod=concave relief).
