Advantages of Certain Playing Techniques

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by jonathan2994, Apr 10, 2005.

  1. Some peopple use slap, some people do that thing that Claypool does, some people use 4 fingers to strum, some people use 2 fingers to strum up and down, and some people (me) use a pick. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each style? Specifically, why should I or should I not contemplate using a different style playing? :bassist:

ALSO: What's the style that Claypool uses called?
  2. Flamenco Strumming
  3. LeftSide

some of those styles of playing like slap arent commonly used in most types of genres. I would just say that whatever you feel comfortable with is the best thing to go with, and do whichever when you find it necessary. some may find two fingers adequate, some say 3. It really doesnt matter as long as you're comfortable and get the job done
