Advice from you tube bass players......

    Or any bass players that record over a recorded song.
    I want to make some videos playing along some songs. It would be better if I turn down the lows of the original recording, I turn them down a tad or I leave ir as the original.

    The big Youtube stars like TonyDickenson and Davidson put their bass really loud over the main unedited track. It's a real test of your playing to see if you can put yourself out there without hiding in the mix!

    I would say cut some around 100-150Hz on the main recording, and insert yourself relatively dry. It's going to sound weird regardless but that should help highlight your own playing while leaving the rest of the recording more or less intact.
