Advice on a P Lyte.

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Spike, Oct 4, 2000.

  1. G.A.S. again.
I have been offered a 5 year old P Lyte (MIJ) with gold hardware and I’m told it’s in excellent condition as new.
Will have to travel from London to Liverpool to see it  but the price seems good (£275 with Fender hard case)

Were the older ones also active, and can anyone give me any good or bad comments on this series?

  2. Got it.
    Worth the journey.
    Good range of sounds.
    Fantastic neck.
    Very Lyte.(Light)
  3. Super Chicken

  4. I tried one recently. I liked the tone very much, at least over all other basses I tried that same time on the same amp. It's also very playable, almost like an Ibanez ;) But... that one HISSED LIKE HELL, I would never buy such a hissing bass. I don't know, maybe that was just a bad exemplar..
  5. I’m glad to say that mine doesn’t hiss apart from the normal single coil syndrome when selecting the jazz p-up on its own, which is fairly normal unless you have a stacked humbucker type p-up.
I am quite impressed with this bass, especially for the cost.
I think my one is an early 90's model with an E six digit ser number, when they only made the gold hardware version.
Maybe the newer ones have a different pre-amp.
