flat or round wound? major heavy or extra light? brand? easiest on the hands? best quality/lifetime? price i should pay for each respective set? anything i should look out for? im a slapper but still want good warm tones too.
I take it you're not happy with what came on your Moduli? Or just wanting to see what else is out there? You might try some DR "Marcus" (Fat Beams). Bright, without being "pingy", and can also be fat and warm, (of course, much depends on your woods, pickups, and touch). See my review of them in the Talkbass Review if you care to. I luv `em and DR Lo Riders as well. The sponsor of this forum, bassguitarstrings.com , has good prices. I don't know about service because I've yet to buy there. I've bought from juststrings.com for years. The prices are okay and the service is outstanding - your strings arrive A.S.A.P. and they quickly respond to email concerns. I suggest you compare.
I'm a Q5 guy. I have had just about every string known to man on that bass. Best Flat - TI Jazz -love the tone but is a little too thumpy at high gig volume Best Nickel Round - DR Sunbeams and D'Addario Slowounds.Great all around practice and gig strings.Nice warm punch. Best Steel Round - DR Hi Beams.Great string with killer punch but just a little too "toppy" for me. Overall Fave- DR Sunbeam.
