Advice on D Tuner or not on a Spirit

    Hi there,
    I please need an advice whether taking a Spirit by Steinberger with the DB-tuner or not.
    What do you think of this contraption on the bass bridge, does it work and is it safe for the bass structure, or you'd rather detune the E string manually slowly instead of instantly dropping the fretboard tension?

    I'm in the mood of buying the Spirit because I've always liked the 80ies Steinberger shape and I thought I didn't need the D-tuner, but I just started to study Waterloo by ABBA needing DADG tuning.... so the doubt came in.
