Advice on fret work from online DIY luthiers...

    I have a neck on a bass that I built from parts many years ago with the frets sticking out the sides. It hurts to play! Any hints on filing them down without damaging the wood?

    Thanks! The bass actually sounds really good, despite looking like total s**t. :) It's a P copy that right now has an old Jackson active EQ that I can't wait to rip out and a Fender Lace Sensor pickup.

    Ask the folks at www.mimf.com (Musical Instrument Makers Forum).

    They have been very helpful to me in regard to wood and you can get advice from people who build instruments for a living.
