I just bought a new bass (a Shen Rogeri) and need to sell my old Kay. I'd prefer to do it other than on ebay since I don't want to deal with shipping it. I'd appreciate any tips on the best way to sell it locally (I live in Minneapolis). Thanks in advance, John
Thanks. I didn't intend for this to be a classified ad! ;-) Oops, I just noticed there's a classified section here....
If you live near a college or the high school you could see if you could post an ad. It shouldn't be too overly hard to unload an old Kay. If i could find one used here i'd jump on it [the deal]. That's all
Hi Shoes, congrats on your new bass! I'm guessing that you bought it from John Michael Smith in Minneapolis, and I'll also bet that he can help you unload the Kay too. I know eBay is a hassle, but can be expedient. I auctioned a blonde M-1 with a healthy neck joint for a local player, and it fetched almost 3K plus shipping. Also, if your local 'grasser or jazz hang allows fliers posted, I'd bet someone wouldn't be able to resist it.
Thanks--I actually bought the Shen from Bob Kurz (Bob's House of Basses)...great bass so far. I will try the ad on the bulletin board thing perhaps...I haven't totally ruled eBay out, but would rather not have to worry about shipping.
Just wanted to thank everyone for the reply--I sold the Kay last night to a local talkbass member. Now I can start paying off the Shen! ;-)
