Advice on setup

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by hstiles, Aug 12, 2002.

  1. I bought a Soundtech Digital Power amp to replace my SWR BAss 350 - which although beautiful sounding, had to work a little too hard to cut through.

I really like the preamp of the SWR. Thing is I also use a PSA-1 overdrive preamp. The SWR doesn't have a preamp out as such, just a balanced out that can be set to either line or direct.

Could I take the balanced out from the SWR into the PSA-1 and then on to my pwer amp. I know that the SWR can run without speakers plugged in no problem.

This way I guess I also get to keep my SWR in my rig as a backup.

Other than that, is the preamp section of the SWR available as a seperate preamp?

    yes. all of that works

SWR does make a fabulous preamp the SWR IOD preamp. look around before you get one. most go for around 600-630.. but you can find them for less

You could also use the effect send as a 'preamp out' - I don't know if it's pre or post EQ though. I guess post EQ.
