Aerodyne. Help, anybody?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by tortoise.sg, Mar 21, 2004.

  1. Hi, does anyone know the difference between the aerodyne with the pickguard and the one without? Besides the obvious visual differences... Apparently, they are going for different prices at http://www.ishibashi-music.com/ . Do they sound the same? I would think that the one with the pickguard has wood routed out underneath. Can anyone confirm? If so, how would that affect the tone of the bass?

You can check them out here.

Um...why would they route one just to put a pickguard on? I might be missing something obvious about Pickguard Installation.

  4. Generally, companies like Fender can route under a pickguard without anyone noticing. It's more practical for them to route their connections, so they jump at the chance. However, if a bass has no pickguard, they can't route, or it would be butt-ugly, meaning more inconvenience and time.

  5. So how would the extra routing affect the sound? I'm about to get one but still am not sure about the differences.
