I think you should consider a Cort Curbow 6 String.
IT comes with a Bartolini Soapbar pickup. It is made of Luthite and has a hardrock maple dual-truss rod neck, and synthetic Ebonol fingerboard.
The fretwork is excellent, and it sounds very good.
    Playability... is great!!.

You can get one new at http://www.marsmusic.com
and there are 2 in Ebay right Now.. I think you should get one of those.
This one is just like mine:

The Cort Artisan A6 is a great Instrument too... it costs the same. You can get one trough http://www.planetbass.com at a great price.

    Ok..
There is one at Ebay now for $400.. (I got mine at Ebay too for $440)
It has active electronics, 3 Band EQ + a Slap Countour Switch wich cut the mids and bost the bass. You can adjust how it works via 2 small trim pots in the back.. (You can see the hole in the cover in the picture of the back)
IT has 25 FULL Frets and the E anb B strings have 27 Strings. (Stupid isnt it?? , but it works!!) It wont have fret buzzes at all. I use the neck straight.. with no relief and very low action.
    It slaps wonderfully.

    Get one.
    period.

No.. i'm pretty open minded on a 6 string, I just want something affordable and that would be worth trading my Carvin LB20F :D

Are there position markers on the side of the neck, because there aren't any on the fretboard? I've been looking at 6-strings in this price range too, I've heard the sound clips on marsmusic.com, and I think this one beats out the Ibanez Soundgears and Dean Edges I was considering...I'm pretty much sold on this model...anyway, what's the scoop on the position markers?

Yes. It has side position markers..
But since it has 27 frets.. you wont know where you are sometimes, heheheh.
Let me tell you.. IT IS GREAT.

Oh.. And of course. It beats Ibanez basses, at least the SR506, and 406 that Ive played, maybe it beats the SR1206 and 1306 too.
    IT is just great.
One thing I have to tell you. It is a little neck heavy. This means that the neck tends to lean over your side...
Not much of a problem... there are many neck heavy basses everywhere and many people wont notice it.

Yeah... he takes long time to answer.
Remember the link i put before from Ebay?
Thats the Bass he has... i mean.. ITS HIM who is advertising on that Ebay link..
So.. I think thats the way to go if you want to buy it.
Because he wont trade.(At least thats what i Think.)
