So, after playing bass since 1990, I finally obtained my first true Fender (MIM) P-bass as the result of a trade. It was in perfect condition, and I thought it actually played/sounded pretty decent. So, of course I sold it on craigslist within 36 hours and placed an order for a used MTD Kingston (older 4 string passive, 1 MM pickup) the next day. This was basically a break-even deal (within $15 USD).... So.... I understand the P-bass thing, and I think it has a nice rock kind of sound. But.... But.... But.... Nope. I just don't think that that the basic MIM P bass offers enough to warrant the price. I do applaud the resale value, though - I got this bass as a trading chip and it served its purpose well.... (got me what I really wanted).
