After a year or so....

  1. I just want to know where you were after playing bass for about a year. What songs could you play? Etc. Thanks

    I was in Davis, CA.

    I could play "Tippi-Toes" by the Meters. That was it.

    I could play just about every Rush song. Oh wait, maybe is was every Bush song.....:D

    A year after I started, I was still making the transition between playing with just my thumb (not slap style; really slow, clumsy don't-know how-else-to-play style) to a standard 2-3 fingers fingerstyle. It was a little after the one-year point that I stopped trying to figure out how to play all of these songs other people made and started trying to make my own stuff up. Not that playing other people's music is bad; now that I look back on it, it's probably better than inventing all of your own stuff so early on, it's just where I was at the time.
