Finally, my rig has been ordered, and will be here shortly. From all the help and advice and comments I've received from you guys, I have made my decision. This rig is composed of these 3 pieces: 1. SWR Intersteller Overdrive 2. Carvin DCM2000 poweramp 3. Eden D410XLT Oh yeah, this is my 1st bass amp system EVER!!! I would like to compile a shot-out list of all the people I remember helping me through all of my questions and everything: FalsehoodBass, Warwick5S, lo-end, John Davis (formerly known as "sicplayer"), bgavin, mchildree, JMX, Jazzbo, beachgeddy, merlin, HeavyDuty, Oysterman, Gard, Nino-Brown, Eric Cameron, brandon, CrawlingEye, Big Wheel, primusdude, Munjibunga, AllodoX, embellisher, Brad Johnson, Angus, EString, Joris, leper, Spacegoat, MikeyD, Nightbass, Chasarms, Phat Ham, SRSiegel, and probably a few others I forgot because I'm a dumbass. From the bottom of my hearts, I would like to thank all those who I mentioned and forgotten, again, for helping influence my decision for the better. Once I get it, I'll post a pic up for all you to see! I am finally in the over 1000+ watt club!!! YIPPEE!!!!! edit: OY! a few ppl I remembered after I posted the thread
should be awesome. i wish i would have gone with the DCM1500 or 2000...but it's not like 1000watts isn't a whole lot. and i kind of liked the whole 2 rack space thing. not used to seeing swr and eden stuff intermingled, but i'll be interested in hearing the result!!! now you just have to wait, and waiting is the hardest part jason
Sounds like a fun setup, i'd like to play with it... hey thanks for the thanks... yea i remember most of your journey through bass equipment land... you started with my exact setup... ampeg svp-pro, mackie 1400 and swr 810... then the 810 became two swr 410's, when then turned into Eden's, then to Acme, then back to Eden... whilst the preamp went to an IOD, back to SVP, then over to Eden Navigator, then BACK to the IOD.. the poweramp, at one point or another i think you had planned to buy every poweramp i've heard of, including walter woods, crown, crest, qsc, mackie, and carvin... Congrats Dude... i hope you like the setup in its entirety... have fun playing on it..
haha, lmao I can't believe you remember all that, I can't even remember it all! I give you the rights to write a biography on my bass life.
I chose the middle vote. But I do think it's cool that you are getting a great rig. I just wanted to be different.
you have more than one heart? Glad to help, and may your rig bring you years of joy and deafening tone to drown out those pesky guitarists.
I just realized your new rig is gonna be a souped up version of my R600 running an Eden 410-XLT. The IOD probably sounds a lot different than my Carvin and you'll have over 3 times the power, but they're still sort of the same, right?
IT ROCKS!!!!!!!! You forgot the Kern. What I loved was how vociferous BB would get once he settled on something. And then slowly the choice would start drifting............... until he settled on something else.
dude, this rig is gonna ****in rule for a hard rock grindy in yo face like a can o mace baby, kinda sound nice choices, im jealous as all hell
hehe, you picked up on that, haha, you're great! Shucks, all you guys are great! I feel loved, and so loved that once I regain a little dinero, 20 bucks will be sent in. Dang namit, I love you all!!! ...in that heterosexual way, of course...
That should be smokin rig man, dont forget the rack. I recently picked up a warwick rack bag and its alot easier to deal with so check those out and wait till nobody is around ( about 2 in the morning) and smoke that thang.
Thunder, thanks for the pointer, but I already got a rack, a Gator ShockMount rack. Very light weight, alittle bulky, but all Shockmounts are, and it gives me a little peace of mind that atleast I've done as much as I could to save my electronics when I transport them. BTW, a suggestion on a good quality, maybe gold-covered banana/binding/spade whatever plug, both ends bananas, for my rig? Thanks.
congrats! dude that sounds like a very nice setup. i havnt had the privelage of cranking an eden unfortunatly... but ive never heard a bad thing about em. the IOD kicks... and your poweramp... dont get me started. the singer/guitar player in my band has one. we use it to drive two Carvin PAcabs (2 15's 28's +horn for each cab) that thing has balls beyond belief. good uncolored sound. and carvin is not lying when they say they are built tough. we once had it fall three feet or so onto asphalt, while it was powering the PA cabs. the damned thing didnt even glitch! i think you will be very happy, show us your rig when you get it!
or...for a smooth phat dub reggae or R&b tone, or a scooped mid funk tone, or a mid heavy fusion tone or... i have pretty close to that rig (IOD, DCM1000, SWR Goliath jr and triad) and i play mostly funk and jazz, never use the distortion, and always sound awesome. (tone, that is ) it's actually very versatile once you know what you're going with it. side note #1 - there's no gain knob, i'm sure you know. i think i found the perfect accessory to the IOD - the raven labs MDB-1. it's pretty much a mixer you can plug 3 basses into, with buffer and individual gain knobs. the lack of the gain knob is one of the only things i'd change (the other being adding a sweepable midrange (but i'm fixing that with a true blue EQ ) side note #2 - you wouldn't believe it, but i ran my iod/dcm rack and goliath jr at a recording session with my UPRIGHT (because i don't have a "small" amp), and all the guys said they'd never heard upright sound so good. and that's with a not-so-awesome englehardt maestro with underwood pickup. jason
Radio Shack has 12 gauge speaker cable(.99 ft) and gold banana plugs. Easy to assemble, even mechanically disabled people like me can do it, one screw per side.
