In my Modulus I have a bart NTMB and I am thinking about going to a OBP-3. Anyone got any advice? What are the differences (tonally and functionally) between the two?

I've never compared 'em in the same instrument but in different instruments (I've got both), I'd say the Aguilar is warmer and perhaps a bit punchier but the Bart has better balance overall.

I really like the Aguilar for headroom, nice fat lows and snappy highs.

I just played a Modulus Quantum with Bart pickups and preamp and a Modulus GVJ with an aguilar 2 band preamp. I played the Quantum first, then the jazz. All I could think when i heard the jazz was WOW and that is incredibly deep I need one of these preamps on my Modulus when I get it. Sorry but I can't help you with the 3 band preamp, thought this might help a little though.

has anyone compared the Aggie, to a J-Retro? its my preamp of choice, but the variable mid aggie sounds cool, too.

just hope its not hopelessly overpriced like the rest of their stuff. :(
