Which cab do you think will pair up best with these two amps.
    Markbass F1
    Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0
I know they are very different sounding heads. But if you had both (this is the twist), which light weight cab would you chose?

Mark bass F1 with the epifani UL112 Series2

Full round sound. Nice to carry around after a gig.

(Need to try a UA 610 with an epifani ul112 - great sound.)

  4. I have not done the direct A/B comparisons with the heads you mention. However, I find the Epi112UL to be superior in every way to the GS112, especially the original Series I box, if you can find one.... just as much low end, but more even in the mids, and a tweeter so much sweeter as to be not even in the same universe IMO and IME. Throw in the much lighter weight (although the current heavier S2 is just a touch lighter than the GS112), and you really have a winner in that comparison, IMO.

I have GB 6.0 + aggie gs112 without a tweeter. I really like it, gets really loud and I can really make it thump if i so choose (pbass with flats, or my active Jazz bass with flats). I don't really dig the tones i get out of it with my passive Jazz, just takes a lot of eqing to make it thump -- might just be the TI jazz flats i put on it.

there are tons of tonal options with the gain and input settings and the eq and the awesome push knobs (low boost, mid cut, high boost). I really enjoying this amp. the other day me and the band were jamming and it was the first time i really "opened' her up and i had the volume up about halfway on master, gain at like 9 or 10 pm and imput volume all the wya up, playing my active jazz and it just thumped and sounded great. Low sound with the mids and highs cut is kinda my thing and it works well --- tho this head has a lot of clear highs, even with it rolled all the way off.

Pretty hard to find a series 1 box anymore. How's the midrange on the Epi112?

  7. Even the SII is, to my ear, more balanced than the GS112, and the tweeter and crossover on the SII sounds the same.

You might consider the Genz NE112. I have not heard one, but they seem to get raves. It's a bigger box, but light.

Also, the new BergAE line of cabs is pretty cool... very aggressive in the mids and upper mids... punchy... like a smoother DB112.

I really dig the DB112's, but IMO, with any of these, you need two of them to really sound full, even and deep at even moderate volumes.

They all sound 'good' though... just various levels of mid punch.

Edit: You should also consider the EpiPS112.... about the same weight as the newer UL's, less expensive, and from what most report, more low mid presence and punch, if that's what you are looking for. It looks like a very nice box for the price. You might want to PM Jokerjkny.... he has experience with the GS112's, PS112's and 112UL's.

Cool:) I'm not looking to stand out, so I kind of want a cab that does not have a mid hump. I like a more neutral mid if that doesn't sound too crazy:) Thats why I'm looking at the GS112

if anything I'd say the gs is more mid scooped-- good lows and highs.

    That's what I want :)...I think:)

  11. UL112 is 30 lbs, GS112 is 42.

That's a significant difference in weight, and part of the reason why I switched to the Epifani.

not much experience w/ the mb head, but i like the shuttle w/ either cab.

yet, i prefer the epifani, not only cause i'm very partial to those cabs, but also because the more relaxed and naturally neutral voicing of the ul112 seems to mate nicer and make better use of the EQ and presets, vs. the more lower middy, thicker sound of the gs112. also, the shuttle's naturally laid back sound gets a nice, quick, responsive kick thx to the UL speakers give the head a bit more jump. also, i found my ul112 series ii to be that much bigger sounding w/ the shuttle, too. and yes, the weight saving is quite nice.

if you prefer a more voiced bass cab, where you dont have to fuss too much to find a nice basscentric sound, i really liked the shuttle / epifani performance ps112 combo. for my ears, it was literally like the epifani take on the ol' fatty rock/r&b bass sound. it has a great lower mid to lows pump, a nice attenuation of those harsh upper mids, while also having this sweet upper end detail that can sometimes be missing in those fatter sounding voiced cabs. its easily tops in my book over the aguilar gs112, berg ht112, accugroove tri112, etc. heck, i'm actually super gas'ed in getting a pair of ps112's myself!

Do you think the Gs112 and Ul112 would match up well together?

Yes... I used to run this combo with an AG500sc. Both great cabs with different sounds. I like the GS112 with the shuttle. I have no experience with the Markbass stuff to make any comparision. If I had to pick one cab of the two, I would get the Epifani. The UL is a little cleaner sounding than the GS112. On the other hand, the GS112 has a phat sound that no other cab can get (IMO, IME)

Yep. I like it a little more than the GS112 cab. It's definitely worth a look for what it seems you (being the OP) are looking for.

I'm thinking about another myself. Or, just waiting to see what the Underground Series is all aboot.
