I recently got a Aguilar GS212 from a pawn shop, and they gave me a day to take it home and try it out. everything seems good, and i really like the cab, but the tweeter seems to be working intermittently. For example, (with tweeter on 100%) it will work for 20 minutes, and then stop, and then come back on all of the sudden randomly. What would be causing this? I checked all the wiring and the contacts are solid. Could it be the crossover? And when the tweeter is on, it seems rather hissy, but i read that might be normal.
OK, so i tested the tweeter on its own, and the tweeter is functioning properly. I assume the crossover would be the next thing to look at but how do i go about diagnosis with that? This is kinda urgent, the pawnshop said they will give me $25 back if i decide to keep the cab, or just a full refund. So if i need to fork more than $25 to fix it, i might just return it.
Could the tweeter control pot be dirty? Try rotating the level knob back and forth a bunch of times and see if that helps. If you have the input/crossover panel out, a quick clean with something like Deoxit couldn't hurt.
