    Hi,
just recently bought an aguilar obp-3 preamp for my fender jazz. This bass is currently passive using hot basslines stk. I just dont know if these passive pickups will work with an active circuit. HELP!

Also if they will not work what pickups do u recommend i get to get a very agressive sound with bundles of growl?

Sure it will work, but you'll possibly need to do some routing to get everything to fit.

As far as growl, you'll need to try it and see. The preamp is only one factor in the sound of an instrument.

Any brand of pickup will work with the obp-3 preamp as long as they are passive pickups.

People often confuse active electronics (like your preamp) with active pickups (which only EMG makes).

The best match will depend of the sound you're looking for. It's an experimentation.

For good J-bass pickup that are not too expensive, I'd recommend Dimarzio Model J or Ultra Jazz models.

Nordstrand pickups are highly regarded and you see then used with OBP-3 preamps frequently.
