I would like to ask if anyone has installed the Aguilar OPB-1 Preamp in their bass and still has the instructions. I would like to know if you still have the instruction sheet that you could copy and fax to me or mail to me. I want to install one in a custom build that I'm having done and I want to know my options. Will it require any concentric pots? Can I add an active passive switch?

Please get in touch via e-mail. Thanks!!:D

  2. Heres the sheet from my Aguilar. I assume they haven't changed the wire colors. I love mine I hope you enjoy yours.
I can't pot the pic. I can't make it a small enough file size and my free web provider is off line so if you want I can email it to you. my address is jludden@optonline.net

Here is the sheet for the switch. You need both directions to install the switch. I never got around to installing this particular preamp w/the switch because I couldn't find the pots. :(

You could use concentric pots but they have to be 25K pots. I wanted to use concentric pots but had a hard time finding 25K con. pots.

    Nino-B! :)

EMG makes a dual concentric 25K (audio taper) pot -- A25KX2.
In a VERY old site price list, it goes for $12.50.

"WholesaleMusic" lists`em, but you gotta' email for the price.

I want to put an Aguilar OBP-1 in my fretless US Masters. I see from the schematics that Nino posted that it runs on 18 volts. Is that correct?:(

Yes. I'm not sure if you could run it on a single 9V.

    Thanks for the replies.

An email that I got from Bass Northwest says that I can run it with only 9volts. But my Aguilar pedal version runs on 18 volts.

I'm thinking that I'm just going to try and find a Bartolini NTBT. I'm thinking that it'll cost a bit more but they usually have the pots already wired up. Those darn pots are spendy.

is the OBP1 "compatible" with all brands of pickups?

what about wiring it with active pickups? will they feed off its 18v or require an additional third 9v?

I have my Aguilar w/a set of EMG 40's & I use it w/2 batteries. I beleive I remember reading that all you need it 2 batteries even if the pickups are active & require a battery.
