What do you think about this?
How would it go with RnB and Soul music played through Epi cab?

I'm not very impressed with the punch and presence of my Focus Series II versus other amps that I own and play. However, I'm not sure how much of this lack of punch and drive is due to the preamp voicing vs. the power amp. It's plenty loud, but just doesn't 'hit you in the chest' like, for example, the Thunderfunk550, which is approximately the same wattage.

I absolutely love the Ag659 preamp, and have played one with a standard power amp (some sort of Crown) through an Epi310 and it sounded amazing.... surprisingly quick and very crisp for a tube preamp... but also warm... very, very nice combination of 'hi fi' and tube warmth IMO... and small and light! I wish they still made them.

So, assuming the 'politeness' and IMO lack of punch is primarily due to the preamp of the Focus, it sounds like that might be a very cool rig.
