what's a better bodywood for a good sustaining FAT slaptone?

I think this has been discussed 1 million and one times before, but in most basses swamp ash is going to yield a better slap tone because of the upper-mid response. Alder has a low mid punch which is great for fingerstyle, typically not as good for slapping.

Right now I am digging the swamp ash/maple fretboard combo with a 3-band EQ to play with the mids. Very aggressive and excellent for slapping.
