I just bought my first alembic (from a fellow TBer) and I'm stoked. It should get here sometime next week. These are his pics, but I can't resist posting them.

I'm really interested in seeing how this compares to my Rick Turner. I can see similarities in the neck design and fretboard. Anyways, I'm glad to join the Alembic club :)

  2. Looks good, congrats :D

Nice. Was that the one on ebay? I was tempted to buy it, but alas just dropped over 2K on my new Glock head. Enjoy.

Yep. It was on ebay, but I purchased it privately. I had been watching it for a little while (and drooling and thinking of what body parts I could sell to get the money) on the Alembic club website.

  5. Congrats! You're gonna love it! By the way, my Essence likes 2 pillows in the bed. The wife hardly notices her anymore!

  6. Hi, great bass, I especially love the tight flames! See you in the Alembic Club! :)

Thanks. Your Orion in that other post makes me drool as well. I really love that body shape. *adds Orion to the list of credit card doom*

Say, is there a "Show your Alembic" thread somewhere in here? I never tire of looking at these beauties.

Let us know what you think of the maple body once you have a chance to put it through its paces.

Nice bass. I like the flaming on the maple and the subtlety of the maple top over the maple core with the accent laminate.
It's always good to welcome another member to the ranks of Alembic owners. Enjoy.

Yeah, I'm really interested in how the tone comes out of that wood. So far, all of my basses have been Swamp Ash (except for my Bubinga Warwick and plywood danelectro :p). I've always been a fan of maple necks, and this thing is just a maple beauty.

And yeah, the tight flames were the first thing that caught my eye (along with the offset/accented laminate which I've always been a fan of).

Here's a picture of the 4-layer laminate on the back of the headstock with matching flame maple on top (something I'm a fan of):

And another good porn shot of the back:

This is also my first neck-through bass. I'm really experimenting with new things here :p

Looks really nice. How much did you pay him/her for it?

  13. Always wanted an Alembic...Too bad I don't have the 20 grand it would cost to get the options I want :bawl:. Have fun with her though!

  14. The only tasteful Alembic ive ever seen - looks really nice.

    Enjoy it!

    Natrab,

Congrats on the new bass! Nice Elan! Who'd you get it from, Lbanks?

Fuzzyduck, You're breakin' my heart dude.

Do these count as tasteful? Be honest....I won't be offended if you say they suck. (not much anyway)

I've got a five string version, maple/maple with walnut trim 1992. The only difference is it's quilted and it's got a couple of purple heart stringers through the neck. It's been a while since I played it cuz it's not playable(a long sad story). What I remember is the articulation, very up-front, particularly for a neck-through, great mids and sparkling, open highs. The mid control is simply awesome, you're going to dig it!!
    Congrats!!
